ABOUT THE FRIENDS
Friends of the Library groups are independent, non-profit, volunteer organizations that sponsor fundraising and other activities on behalf of their local libraries. That defines us for legal and tax purposes, but what does it really mean? Friends are local people who support their library with their donations of time and money. Through our generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand (think book sale!), in the past years the Friends:
- Funded the Library’s initial large print and audio book collections
- Fund access to Ancestry.com, a family history research database, and offer genealogical research assistance
- Assisted with Community Room renovations through funding and volunteer labor
- Provided funds towards new furniture for the Library’s Reading Nook
- Built and maintain three Little Free Libraries in the community
- Funded the Library book return box during the entryway renovation
- Funded the Library’s automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Fund and maintain Library garden and landscaping
- Provide ongoing monetary support of the Library’s youth programs including giveaway children’s books during March is Reading Month, the Summer Reading Program and Book-or-Treat in October
- Provide personal hygiene supplies for the library bathrooms
- Decorate the Library for the holiday season
