Book Sales & Donations

Come to the annual Friends of the Library book sale! The book sale is held the first weekend of August in conjunction with the Suttons Bay Art Festival. All proceeds support the Friends of the Suttons Bay Bingham District Library. The Friends group is an independent, non-profit, volunteer organization that supports the library. Some recent projects include creating & maintaining the library gardens, a large contribution toward the purchase of new reading area furniture, creating & maintaining three Little Free Libraries in the library’s service area, support of youth programming, and a large contribution toward the library’s new entryway.

The Annual Book Sale could not happen without your support through donations, volunteer time and purchases. We need your help to make it a success. Thank you!

Book Donations
Donors can drop off used books on scheduled Saturdays between 11am – 1pm only. Bring your used books to the parking lot located at the south of the library. Books donated will become the property of the Friends of the Library. The Friends reserve the right to refuse any and all donations with or without explanation.

Saturday, April 13: 11am-1pm
Saturday, May 11: 11am-1pm
Saturday, June 8: 11am-1pm

Accepting
Books must be in clean, usable and salable condition.
-Puzzles in good condition
-Local interest books
-Fiction books
-Nonfiction books: history, biography, memoir, popular science, religion & spirituality, etc.
-Current ‘how-to’ books: cookbooks, gardening, arts & crafts, sports, outdoors, DIY
-Young adult & children’s books

Not Accepting
Books that are damaged, dirty, damp, yellowed or that have an odor will not be accepted.
-Abridged books
-Periodicals: magazines, brochures, yearbooks, annuals, etc.
-Reference books: dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlases, textbooks, etc.
-Media: records, cassette tapes, CDs, VHS tapes, DVDs, Blu-Rays, etc.

Book Sale Volunteers
This is a big sale and a big job. There are many volunteer jobs before, during and after the sale such as helping with book donation drop-off days, moving the books from storage to the sales tents, putting up & taking down the sales tents and staffing sales tables.
